So you have a new family member?!

First and foremost, congratulations! This is such an exciting time for you and your family! To help you, we have created a list of items to have on hand before you bring home your new ball of fluff.

1. Collar, Leash, & ID Tag

A collar with an ID tag and a sturdy leash are essential for walking and keeping your dog safe. We do not recommend collars/tags while pets are in crates to prevent injuries.

Check out our Walkies Collection to order your new collar or leash today!

Need a place to hang your new leash? Check out Thorn Creek for a custom leash holder.

2. Food & Water Bowls

Make sure to have separate bowls for food and water to keep your dog properly fed and hydrated. We recommend stainless steel, ceramic, or glass as these materials accumulate less bacteria when cleaned regularly.

3. Quality Dog Food

Choose a high-quality dog food that meets your new pet's nutritional needs. There are many healthy kibble and raw diet options. Consult with your veterinarian for recommendations.

4. Comfortable Bed

Provide a comfortable bed or crate for your dog to rest and feel secure in their new environment.

5. Toys and Chews

Keep your dog entertained and mentally stimulated with a variety of toys and chews to prevent boredom and destructive behavior.

6. Grooming Supplies

Brushes, nail clippers, and shampoo are necessary for maintaining your dog's coat and overall hygiene.

7. Training Treats

Use treats to reward good behavior and aid in training your new dog to follow commands.

8. Poop Bags

Be a responsible pet owner by cleaning up after your dog during walks and in your yard. Don't forget, we offer matching poop bag holders that clip on to your Coastal Wags leash!

9. Veterinarian Contact Information

Have the contact information for a trusted veterinarian readily available in case of emergencies or for regular check-ups.

10. Patience and Love

Above all, remember that your new dog will need time to adjust to their new home. Show them patience, love, and understanding as they settle in.
